De Stem van Dordt

This is the team of De Stem van Dordt, it was the best read weekly newspaper in
Dordrecht, Papendrecht and Zwijndrecht.
It was delivered on tabloid-format door-to-door on Wednesday in 85.000 issues.

Standing (from left to right): Monique Bosma, Alice Crawford, Marian Bruin and
Eveline van de Lagemaat. Sitting (from left to right): Dick Elshout, Leo Roubos and
Piet van Westen. Karin van Rooy was not there when the photo was made.

Unfortunately you still can not find De Stem van Dordt on Internet.
And may be it never will.

De Stem van Dordt was started in by
the 2 salesmen Henny Goud and George Grootenboer
who left the regional daily newspaper De Dordtenaar.

They sold De Stem van Dordt in 1986 to
the regional daily newspaper
De Stem in Breda.
When
De Stem merged with Brabants Nieuwsblad,
De Stem van Dordt was sold to De Dordtenaar in 1996.

I left De Stem van Dordt 1 November 1999 to work for Radio Rijnmond.
In December 1999 and after almost 20 years De Stem merged with
the other weekly newspaper in Dordrecht, called Woensdag.
The strongest title staid but it got the format of Woensdag.
No issues in Papendrecht and Zwijndrecht anymore.
De Stem van Dordt since then
never will be the same (and that's an understatement).

Funny thing is that the first journalist
of De Stem van Dordt -
Thijs Blom - now is
my colleague at
Radio Rijnmond in Dordrecht.

Also one of the salesmen of De Stem van Dordt
- Piet van Westen -
did not like the new format of De Stem van Dordt
and at 4 October 2000
he started his OWN newspaper
in the 'old De Stem van Dordt style', called:

It is on internet since some months!

I wish him all the luck he needs!
