Leo at highway accident - Dordrecht - Holland - 16 January 2001
On the
highway A16 near Dordrecht a car crash happend
round 11.50 AM on Tuesday 16 January 2001.
A taxi
from Limburg was forced to the right by a Belgian truck
and hit another truck that was driving on the other lane.
There were 5 people in the taxi, the
driver was not hurt, 2 people
were lightly wounded and 2 twin sisters of 69 years were badly
wounded.
It took the fire department of Dordrecht one hour to cut them out
of the taxi.
On the above photo at the right you see
one of the sisters carried away by the ambulance
personel.
10 days later she died in the hospital.
The highway A16 in the direction Rotterdam was closed for almost 2 hours.
When I
came there, I met one of my neighbours, Piet.
He was the driver of the truck the taxi crashed on.
I interviewed him live with my mobile phone
for the regional news on Radio Rijnmond.
