Leo at medical assistance helicopter - Dordrecht - Holland - 13 April 2001

Just coming out of the supermarket in Papendrecht on Friday evening 13 April 2001
I was called by
Etienne about an accident on a boat in the Kolenhaven in Dordrecht.

When I came there I heard from the police that a man got a crane on his body.
He was working on an old steamship called Hardi, that bought the crane.
When the crane was moved from one ship to the other, it fell down.

Because the 63 years old man from Dordrecht was badly injured
the
fire brigade and the ambulance service of Dordrecht came
to release the man from under the crane. It took almost 1 hour.
Even the
trauma helicopter came from Rotterdam Airport.

After the victim was brought by ambulance to the hospital
ambulance driver Bram was brought there by helicopter.
As you can see from his face it was his first time.

I know Bram from my first day on an ambulance
and I told him about my first helicopter flight.
Etienne Busink made a nice photo of it.
On the background you see the walls
of the prison
Dordtse Poorten.

I kept the newsreader updated
about this local news
on
Radio Rijnmond.
