Leo at storm in Dordrecht - Holland - 27 October 2002

Already a few days before there was a big storm predicted
for Sunday 27 October 2002.

After the first alarming messages of trees falling down
I heard that a 20 metres high stage
on the Sarisgang in Dordrecht was going to fall down.

In the centre of Dordrecht a lot of shops are renovated
after the upgrade of the
Statenplein by Multi Vastgoed.

The police and Detasec Security evacuated
the surrounding shops and houses.

We just had to wait till it happend...

You can see me hiding behind a police car with my mobile phone
talking to the
studio in Rotterdam and waiting to go live.

Only 1 minute after the stage fell down I had to go live,
pity I could not go live 1 minute earlier.
All the listeners would have heard the crash.

Now they only heard it in the studio.
"It sounded like someone flushing the toilet",
a technician said...

From the other side of the street people where looking at it:

I made live reports for the news programs
about this regional news on
Radio Rijnmond.
