On Tuesday noon 7 March 2006
Leo had to go to the
Rotterdam Court .

KPN Telecom filed a lawsuit
against the
City of Barendrecht
because the city council refused
a consession for a 38 meter
UMTS antenna
after giving it initially.

People living in the neighbourhood of the Oranjewijk
protested against the antenna at the Marijkesingel
because they are afraid of the electromagnetic radiation
and formed the protest group
Stop UMTS Barendrecht.

The city council decided to listen to the people
and KPN Telecom was not happy of course.

Barendrecht says KPN did not give sufficient information
because scientific research on the radiation of UMTS antennas
is still going on in Switzerland.

KPN says it gave all the information there was
on the moment they asked for the permit.

The judge will decide in 2 weeks.

Leo interviewed lawyer Dorus van Deursen
for the afternoon news program of
Radio Rijnmond.

The photos were made on the Wilhelminaplein
on the
Kop van Zuid in Rotterdam
with on the background
Luxor Theatre, Montevideo,
World Port Center, Cruise Terminal, KPN Telecom and Euromast.
