Tuesday
evening 20 June 2006 in Rotterdam
started quiet for news.
Round
23.00 Leo heard that a big fire
broke out
in the factory of the Royal Leerdam glass factory.
Fire brigades from 10 surrounding villages had to go to Leerdam.
Because
of that there also was a COPI (Command Place Incident)
you can see Leo on the first picture between the radio car and
the COPI.
There was a big fire in 3 warehouses of the factory.
However
the factory itself was not harmed by the fire
and kept operating, the warehouses were ashed down
and also some asbestos was spreaded
around on the plant.
However
it took till 01.15 to get the fire under control
it took a lot of firemen working all night and morning to
extinguish the fire.
With
newsreader Chantal Leo
made
special news bulletins on 00.00, 00.30 and 01.00 'o clock.
Leo
interviewed the manager of the factory, the police spokesman
and the mayor of Leerdam and made a report about
the fire
for the morning news program of Radio Rijnmond.
Leo went home round 06.00 AM.
2
days later the damage was estimated
over 1 million euro.
