Kids Day RTV Rijnmond - Rotterdam - Holland - 25 October 2006
Every
year on Wednesday in Autumn Holiday
RTV Rijnmond opens up the doors for the children on Kids Day.
The
children do all the work at RTV Rijnmond themselves.
They can be a reporter, a cameraman or even an anchorman.
Leo's colleagues for this day:
Dylan
Tamrin, 6 years, from Rotterdam
Stefan Ruigrok, 10 years, from Vlaardingen.

They
read alarming messages in the newspaper about
children making their own bombs from recipes on internet and
people getting hurt.
After
some phone calls to fire brigade, police and Marieke Schoneveld
of DCMR -
special reporters Dylan and Stefan went with Leo
to the DCMR -
Environmental Agency in
Schiedam
to make a bomb by themselves.

Of
course they protected themselves
with a DCMR jacket, a helmet and special glasses.

It's
an old trick: one roll of Mentos in a bottle of cola
and you will get a big splash.
So
they went to the supermarket and bought:
a 1.5 liters bottle of Pepsi,
a 1.5 liters bottle of Highway Cola
and 2 rolls of Mentos.
Chemical specialist Theo Engering of DCMR showed us how to do it.
The Pepsi squirted 1,5 meters.
...Dylan was really surprised when we did it a second time...
The cheap Highway Cola won: it squirted almost 2.5 meters.
After
the experiment Dylan and Stefan
asked some real difficult questions to Theo.
Stefan
tried to drink the cola afterwards:
it tasted like cola and Mentos...
